A lawmaker Afoa Leulumoega Lutu has announced his intention to run for governor of American Samoa and has named the director of Administrative Services, Le'i Sonny Thompson, as his running mate.
This will be Afoa's third attempt to become governor.
Afoa is also a former Attorney General and Executive Director of the American Samoa Constitutional Review Office.
Le'i is a US Air Force veteran and the Director of Administrative Services for the current cabinet.
He worked for StarKist Samoa cannery as manager of the Quality Division for many years.
Afoa and Le'i are the fourth team to enter the November race for governor.
