The Northern Marianas Governor Benigno Fitial and the Guam Governor Eddie Calvo's continuing push for a CNMI-Guam Visa Waiver programme for Chinese and Russian tourists has received a big boost in Washington, DC.

Hawaii has joined the CNMI and Guam in drawing focus on the need for a visa waiver programme that would potentially open the doors to millions of Chinese and Russian tourists and businesses.

The Governor of Hawaii, Neil Abercrombie, has signaled his full support for the idea, as he wants the waiver expanded to include Hawaii.

He says enacting such a unique and isolated waiver program in Hawaii, Guam, and the CNMI would give the Department of Homeland Security the opportunity it needs to establish a template that could later be applied in other states.
