The President of the Fiji Hotel and Tourism Association says he is expecting another record year in the tourism sector.

The latest figures from Fiji's Bureau of Statistics show just over 675,000 international visitors arrived in 2011.

The President of the Association, Dixon Seeto, says that is an increase of 6.8 percent over 2010, when the visitor numbers were at about 630,000.

He says the Association will now look to emerging markets such as India and China to continue the trend this year.

"We have a number of things going on, there's a lot more promotion in China and India as well, those numbers in terms of percentages are growing rapidly and I guess we need to look at these new markets in a very serious way."

Dixon Seeto says the marketing campaigns this year will continue to market Fiji as an attractive tourism destination.
