Samoa's opposition is calling on people to protest against the demolition of the old parliament buildings.
The 94-year old fono is to be demolished this week.
Parliament's speaker had originally blocked the demolition, but this morning accepted the government's reasons, including that the building is unsafe.
The government also wants to use the space for this year's celebrations of the 50th anniversary of independence.
The opposition leader, Palusalue Fa'apo the Second says it is a sad day for Samoa.
"The old building is the heart, and where independence was born. So we weer arguing to preserve the building for the history. It's very important history for the people of Samoa."
Palusalue Fa'apo says the opposition is asking people to come to the building and show their opposition to the demolition.
