PNG mobile squads sent to East Sepik

Papua New Guinea police say two mobile squads have been deployed to Wewak in East Sepik Province as tensions remain high following last month's killing of Senior Inspector Charles Parinjo.

The acting Deputy Commissioner of Police Simon Kauba says the moves were also taken to restore command and control within the police force and done in the best interest of all stakeholders.

Chief Superintendent Joe Poma was appointed by Commissioner Tom Kulunga to replace Senior Inspector Vincent Pokas as Provincial Police Commander.
