The recently elected Marshall Islands President, Christopher Loeak, told the local Chamber of Commerce at a meeting that he wants to strengthen a government-business partnership to create more jobs in the country.
He brought most of his Cabinet ministers to the gathering, producing a turnout of more than 100 people.
The meeting was also nationally broadcast on the government's radio station.
Both Mr Loeak and the new Chamber of Commerce President Brenda Alik-Maddison said Wednesday's meeting was the first of what is planned to be an ongoing conversation between the public and private sectors.
