The Fiji Sugar Corporation is confident of starting this year's crushing season for the Penang, Lautoka and Labasa Sugar Mills in May.

The Corporation's Executive Chair Abdul Khan says subject to the Sugar Industry Tribunal Order, the Penang Sugar Mill in Rakiraki is expected to begin crushing from the 22nd of May.

FBC news reports him as saying the Lautoka and Labasa mills should start crushing between the 26th and 28th of May.

Mr Khan says it remains to be seen when the Rarawai Sugar Mill will be able to start crushing as repairs are still underway to its dam in the interior of Ba that was damaged by this year's flooding.
