Air New Zealand says it only holds a small shareholding in Fiji's national carrier Air Pacific and it has no comment over a decree issued by the Fiji interim government giving it full control of the airline.
Fiji owns a majority stake in the airline but the Attorney General and Minister for Civil Aviation Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says the main minority shareholder, Qantas, has maintained effective control since 1998.
He says Qantas had veto power over most areas of Air Pacific's operations, something that the Australian airline denies.
Mr Sayed-Khaiyum says the decree won't affect the ownership of Qantas' shares and doesn't amount to a nationalisation of the airline.
Air New Zealand does not have a representative on the Air Pacific board.
