France's ruling UMP Party is outraged over remarks by French Polynesia's president Oscar Temaru who last month accused the French president Nicolas Sarkozy of having blood on his hands over the war in Libya.
The spokesperson for Mr Sarkozy has again urged the rival Socialist Party to break its silence over the claims, saying this has become a collective scandal for the party.
However, Mr Temaru has repeated his accusations, saying in Libya children, mothers and elderly people died in pursuit of Muammar Ghaddafi.
Mr Temaru says he believes Francois Hollande will be elected president of France because, he says, as Christians, people cannot vote for Mr Sarkozy whose hands are covered in blood.
Mr Temaru went on to say that Tahitians have become too French and this image prevents English tourists from visiting the territory.
He also questioned the value of a democracy in a country occupied by another, likening it to one suffering from the Stockholm Syndrome.
