More Australian tourists visit Cook Islands

Australians are holidaying in the Cook Islands in increasing numbers.

In February there was a 29 percent lift in numbers to 771 compared with the some month last year, helping the country to a record number of tourists for the past 12 months.

Visitors numbers from the United States were up nine percent and arrivals from Canada increased by 36 percent.

The main Cook Islands tourism market, New Zealand, was also up 10 percent for the year to the end of February.
