Fiji's Disaster Management Office has confirmed permanent relocation is being considered for some people who live in low-lying areas prone to flooding.
The confirmed death toll from the flooding, which hit the Western Division and parts of the Central Division, last week stands at five and about 2,000 people are still in evacuation centres
The Disaster Controller, Inia Seruiratu, says a long term plan for residents is still being worked on and will have to be signed off by the military government.
He says conditions have improved for some, with many able to return to their homes.
"Most of the people have gone back to their homes. There are a few who are still left. Although they have cleaned their homes it is just the odour from the sewerage settling in their immediate surroundings."
Inia Seruiratu says health officials are checking homes to make sure they are habitable.
He also says most schools are now open.
