A 21-year-old United States Marine from the Northern Marianas was killed while on combat patrol in Afghanistan on Wednesday.
Lance Corporal Ramon Taisacan Kaipat, from Garapan, died as a result of multiple injuries received from an improvised explosive device in Helmand Province.
Mr Kaipat is the 15th CNMI soldier to be killed in Afghanistan.
