Nadi chamber of commerce to survey businesses

10:35 am on 16 April 2012

The cost of damages to businesses in Nadi will be ascertained through a survey to be held this week.

The president of Nadi Chamber of Commerce, Dr Ram Raju, says the organisation's current focus is to carry out assessments and provide assistance.

Dr Raju says most businesses in Nadi had to start from scratch after the floods last week where most of their goods and stock were damaged.

Fiji village reports him as saying the relocation of Nadi Town will not be considered by the Nadi Chamber of Commerce in a serious manner at this stage.

Meanwhile, 1,127 people currently remain in evacuation centres in Fiji's Western Division, from this month's flooding.

The Director of DISMAC, Pajiliai Dobui, says 688 people are in Nadi while 439 are in Sigatoka.

Fiji Village reports Mr Dobui said only the Nadi and Sigatoka centres remain open.
