Protestors in Port Moresby plan to present the Papua New Guinea Prime Minister Peter O'Neill with a petition today calling on him to withdraw a series of unconstitutional actions made by his government.
The leader of the Trades Union Congress, John Paska, says they will march from the Somare Foundation Building to the gates of Parliament.

"Mr Paska says the protest is not a union organised action but that there is a wide cross section of discontent with the behaviour of a government whose legitimacy remains in doubt. The protestors want the government to drop plans to defer the election, and to rescind three measures that give parliament full control over the judiciary. These are the Judicial Conduct Act, the Supreme Court Amendment Act and the Parliamentary Privileges Act. Mr Paska also says they want an end to the government's use of intimidation tactics. He says this has been happening through the use in Port Moresby of mobile police brought in from Mt Hagen. He says this has caused a rift within the police force. Mr Paska says the protestors intend staying outside Parliament until they have met the prime minister."
