Sports: Solomon Islands football confident venue will cope with June's Nations Cup

The Solomon Islands Football Federation Chief Executive says offering just the one pitch for June's Oceania Nations Cup isn't an issue.

The cup will feature eight nations looking to progress to the next round of the 2014 FIFA world cup qualifying stage.

Federation CEO, Eddie Nvaga, says the facilities at the Lawson Tama stadium will get a face lift while TV media has to be accommodated.

The two week competition will be played on one ground but Ngava says it will be well managed.

"We have five other pitches available for training and we have one field on stand by in case of a cyclone. But this ground has been able to sustain the national provincial competitions that we have. Our national competitions where we have ten teams take part every year. So I believe we can sustain the competition in one venue."
