Papua New Guinea's Electoral Commissioner says he's confident the electoral rolls will be ready in time for the polls scheduled for late June.

Andrew Trawen says 93 percent of all preliminary rolls have been completed including some of region that MPs have warned as having the potential for chaos.

In a briefing yesterday to MPs and foreign diplomats, the Commissioner said that work had been completed on wards in Southern Highlands, Hela and Jiwaka.

Mr Trawen says all Preliminary Rolls were dispatched on Monday to Returning Officers in those regions for public inspection.

The Commission says that for the nation as a whole, data for a total of 5745 of the 6164 wards in PNG has been received and processed.

The Eastern Highlands is the current focus.

The briefing was backed by the PNGDF and police which have restated that they are ready to provide security around the election.
