Fiji regime identifies fifth constitution commission member

3:00 pm on 20 April 2012

The Fiji interim government says it has named the fifth and last member of the commission charged with drawing up a new constitution.

The interim prime minister, Commodore Frank Bainimarama, has told FBC News that he understands that the person is away overseas.

He says her endorsement is needed before her name can be made public.

The commission is tasked with preparing a constitution for elections promised for 2014.

The regime abolished the constitution in 2009 after the appeal court ruled that the interim government was illegal.
