The Solomon Islands Police riot squad spent the weekend on alert after the killing of a prominent public servant.
The killing took place in front of the central market early on Saturday morning.
As a result of the killing, seven houses were burnt.
The assistant commissioner Edward Sikua says elders from both communities have spoken to both sides.
The body of Simon Fuo was shipped to Malaita for burial on Sunday.
