7 die in flood affected areas of Fiji due to leptospirosis

A total of 7 people have died in the flood affected areas of Fiji due to leptospirosis from January to March this year

The National advisor for Communicable Disease, Dr Mike Kama, told Fiji Village online that the confirmed cases from the two floods to date are 160 dengue cases, 236 Leptospirosis cases and 117 Typhoid cases.

For typhoid, he added the disease is rising above endemic levels.

He says 96% of the people have been treated whilst 4% remain hospitalised.
