Cocoa farmers in Solomon Islands attend business training

10:31 am on 3 May 2012

A three day business training for cocoa farmers in Solomon Islands is enabling farmers to manage their finances properly.

The training is run by the Cocoa Livelihood Improvement Programme, or CLIP, and attended by 30 existing cocoa farmers in Gizo.

CLIP's assistant project coordinator Rex Sebala, told the Solomon Star that this training will teach farmers how to save their money and financial management.

He says they find that many farmers often misuse money they receive from their cocoa business.

Mr Sebala said this topic is important to enable farmers learn ways to prepare and sell cocoa locally and into the overseas markets.
