A group of Papua New Guinea police officers has given nearly five thousand US dollars and eight pigs to their colleagues as compensation after they assaulted them in Port Moresby last month.
The standoff between the two factions created a division in the force and raised community concerns.
The National newspaper reports the reconciliation was held after members of the Highlands mobile group attacked a National Capital District unit, alleging the officers were undertaking private escort work.
The Highlands group gave the Port Moresby team eight pigs and the cash, while the capital group reciprocated by giving four pigs, one cow and 80 cartons of soft drinks to the visiting policemen.
