A book on Solomon Islands handcrafts has been republished by the Secretariat of the Pacific Commission.
'Handcrafts of the Solomon Islands' was compiled by the late writer and photographer, Robert Austin, and first published in 1986, but has been out of print for many years.
The SPC director general, Dr Jimmie Rodgers, says the book will raise the profile of carvings and highlight their symbolism as part of the Solomons experience for visitors.
He says the book is being published at an opportune time, with the Solomons about to stage the Festival of Pacific Arts.
