Fiji's preparations for next months Oceania Nations Cup football tournament have fallen foul of the weather gods.

The national team had planned to have a couple of full weeks training together ahead of the eight-team tournament in the Solomon Islands.

But heavy rain forced the Fiji FACT domestic competition to be delayed until last weekend, forcing coach wide-scale disruption to coach Carlos Buzzetti's squad.

"We come into camp and after four days I need to release the players. They all went to the south and then sadly the rain came in again and destroyed all the grounds so they needed to be postponed until last Friday and Saturday and Sunday. That played a big problem for me because I need to release all the players and I then I don't have any players for the final preparation so they only came back on Monday and of course after three days of football you can imagine all the problems that people had."

Earlier this year flooding in Fiji forced club side Ba to postpone matches in the local and Oceania competitions, and also disrupted the Fiji Olympic team's preparation for a qualifying tournament.
