Qantas airways pulls reps from Fiji's Air Pacific board

Qantas Airways has pulled its four representatives from the board of Fiji's Air Pacific to comply with new government regulations.

In March, the Fiji regime issued a decree requiring Fiji-registered airlines to be under substantial ownership and effective control of a Fiji citizen.

The airline says the immediate removal of Simon Hickey, Narendra Kumar, Charles Harvey and Brett Johnson from the Air Pacific board was in response to a recent government decree that required two-thirds of the board to be Fijian citizens.

In a statement, it says the action is a response to intervention in the management of Air Pacific by the Fiji government.
