Chiefs' hooker Mahonri Schwalger has re-signed with the Super Rugby leaders until 2014.
The 32 year old captained Samoa at last year's Rugby World Cup but was controversially left out of the squad for next month's Pacific Nations Cup tournament.
Chiefs coach Dave Rennie says Schwalger's wealth of experience, skill and leadership qualities are highly valuable to the team and his influence on the development of the team's young tight forwards has been huge.
