Sport: Bonitos on brink of semi finals at Nations Cup

10:31 am on 4 June 2012

Solomon Islands have a big opportunity to secure a semi final berth at the Oceania Nations Cup this afternoon.

The Bonitos take on Fiji following the New Zealand vs Papua New Guinea clash.

With the All Whites expects to run out comfortable winners, a home victory in Honiara would give Solomon Islands six points from two matches, meaning they could not be surpassed by Fiji or PNG.

Following their first-up win over Papua New Guinea, the team's technical advisor, Laurent Papillon, said they needed to work on their finishing in front of goal.

"Score in each opportunities. We had so many today and I explained to all the players we have to score quickly. We do it, we did it, but now we have to obtain more advantage when we have so many opportunities but it's a good starter."
