Tonga has committed to extending its support to peace keeping operations in Afghanistan under the International Security Assistance Force.

The fourth contingent currently serving in Afghanistan was to be Tonga's final contribution since they started in 2010.

Radio Tonga reports Tonga's Prime Minister Lord Tu'ivakano, in an address at a recent NATO meeting, expressed his desire that someday the children of Tonga and Afghanistan would share the same peace and stability.

Whilst in Chicago for the meeting, Lord Tu'ivakano met with world leaders including the British Prime Minister, David Cameron and the Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard.
