The Fiji Commerce Commission is concerned at the high number of breaches of fair trading.

The Commission chair, Dr Mahendra Reddy says despite awareness and officers in the field, they have found that a number of traders are still not abiding by the law.

FBC news reports Dr Reddy as saying that many traders in the rural areas are breaching the decree.

Dr Reddy says they will now increase monitoring by paying surprise visits to the traders in both urban and rural areas including outer islands.

A number of traders have been taken to court for breaching the Commerce Commission Decree 2010.
