11:01 am on 13 June 2012

Fiji and Samoa have set up another meeting at the Junior World Rugby Championship in South Africa after both suffered defeat in their final group matches.

Fiji scored first against New Zealand and trailed just 7-5 at half-time, before falling 33-12.

Samoa were thrashed 74-3 by Wales, which follows earlier defeats to New Zealand and Fiji.

Coach John Schuster told the IRB website their focus is now on retaining their place in the elite tournament.

"They were just far too strong for us today. Two very crucial games now for us - we've just got to work hard to win at least one of them to guarantee us a spot in this competition."

Top qualifiers Wales will meet New Zealand in one semi final, with South Africa to take on Argentina in the other.
