8:08 am on 16 June 2012

Flying Fijians coach Inoke Male says it is important the team continues to build its global standing in this afternoon's rugby test against Scotland in Lautoka.

He says the one-off international marks the first time a European team has played in Fiji since 2006.

Nine changes have been made to the starting team after gruelling back to matches in the Pacific Nations Cup.

Male says, with IRB rankings points up for grabs, it's important the put up a strong showing.

"It will be a big plus because of the rugby fans in Fiji and, secondly, it will be the tough game for us because Scotland has been playing well in the recent Six Nations as well as just beating Australia in Australia. We musn't forget that because Scotland is a good team so we must perform above our games in Japan."

Following the Scotland game Fiji will complete their PNC schedule against Tonga next weekend.
