Sport: Cook Islands look to put own stamp on Pacific Netball Series

10:23 am on 18 June 2012

Cook Islands netball coach Margaret Foster says she's enthused by the upcoming challenge of winning the Pacific Series tournament in Fiji.

Cook Islands impressed at last year's tournament, recording wins over Papua New Guinea and Samoa, and losing to eventual champions Fiji.

Foster says they are going into the tournament with the belief they can win it.

She says while they aspire to reach the heights of netball giants New Zealand and Australia it's important they play the game their own way.

"We kind of have to really ensure we have a Cook Islands - Cookie - template of what works well for them, and it may not be the same as New Zealand or Australia, so we just have to make do with what we've got. I guess it can make you more humbling and we try to prepare as well as whatwe can and use the template of New Zealand."

Margaret Foster says the team will go into camp in Auckland this coming weekend before heading to Fiji.
