Papua New Guinea's assistant police commissioner has warned his officers against accepting bribes in the lead-up to the general election on Sunday.
AAP reports Francis Tokura telling about 500 troops departing for the Southern Highlands not to be swayed by candidates offering them money.
He also encouraged the candidates to set a better foundation for the future by refusing to bribe or threaten voters.
The police will spend 24 days based in and around the highland town of Mt Hagen and will provide security during PNG's two-week voting period.
Eight-thousand security personnel, including the PNG Defence Force and police, are being deployed throughout the country for the election.
