Sport: Pacific rugby countries hope Scotland tour not a one-off

The Fiji coach Inoke Male is hopeful that the current tour by Scotland will encourage more tier one rugby nations to play test matches in the Pacific.

Scotland beat Fiji 37-25 in Lautoka on Saturday, just over a week after they upset Australia in Newcastle.

The Six Nations regulars will complete their brief Pacific campaign against Manu Samoa in Apia this weekend.

Fiji boss Male says other major nations from the Northern and Southern hemispheres should also play games in the Pacific Islands.

"I think the result yesterday speaks for itself. It's crucial for us to play well against Scotland so we can guarantee some of the overseas teams like the tier one nations from the Northern Hemisphere, and especially our brothers from Australia and New Zealand, are willing to come and play test matches against the Flying Fijians here at home."
