Bainimarama says Fiji military monitoring will continue after election

Fiji's interim leader Commodore Frank Bainimarama says the military will continue to monitor day to day developments in Fiji after the elections.

In an interview with the Fiji Sun, he also warned against a return of the controversial Qoliqoli Bill on foreshore ownership promoted by the ousted prime minister Laisenia Qarase.

He says such policies would have divided the nation and the Bill was one of the reasons for the military take-over.

Commodore Bainimarama says Fiji needs visionary leaders who place the interests of the nation first and the last thing it needs is the Qoliqoli Bill passed into law.
