Tonga government gets 14 more days to respond to no confidence motion

Tonga's noble led government has won more time to rebut a motion of no confidence.

The Opposition Democratic Party is pushing for Lord Tu'ivakano's administration to be removed but no vote has yet been held and the government has now been given another 14 days to prepare its argument against the motion.

Here's our correspondent in Tonga, Mateni Tapueluelu.

"Well the government has asked for time for them to put up a proper response to the motion. They believe it is a national matter that requires a complete and sound response from them. They have also attempted to put the motion to the people for a survey, for all the people in Tonga to have some kind of say in whether they believe in the motion against the government, whether they believe that this government should be changed, but that was voted out."
