Tonga's new Police Commissioner has been sworn-in for a three year term.

New Zealander, Grant O'Fee, was with the New Zealand police force for more than 40 years.

He was most recently in charge of security for the rugby World Cup in New Zealand last year.

Commissioner O'Fee, told Radio Tonga he is humbled to have been given the post and he hopes to further the progress of the Tonga Police.

Tonga has been without a police chief since September last year when the government refused to roll over the contract of another New Zealander, Chris Kelley.
