A Vanuatu custom chief has launched a new political party to contest the elections in October.

Chief Daniel Molisa has named it the Vanuatu Democratic Alliance and Liberation Party for Change.

He says for 32 years parties have formed governments which have all failed to achieve stability, costing the people millions of vatu.

Chief Molisa is expected to run against his brother Sela Molisa, who is a veteran politician and Vanuaaku Pati MP for Santo Rural.

Chief Molisa has told the Daily Post newspaper that his party has to change the mentality of the voters to liberate them to take a new political pathway based on responsibility, accountability and transparency.
