A Vanuatu company is chasing a French company, Amyvatu, to pay over 19 thousand US dollars worth of debt.

The owner of Bani' Environmental Consultant, Ernest Bani says the New Caledonia-based owner of Amyvatu, who comes from Wallis owes him more than 10 thousand US dollars.

Mr Bani says in 2010 he was contacted by Amyvatu's local representative Frederic Thyna to prepare an Environmental Impact Assessment for a logging proposal on the island of Erromango in the southern part of Vanuatu.

He says the report was completed in January last year and the report was submitted a month afterwards with an invoice for 19 thousand.

Mr Bani claims since Mr Thyna received his invoice, he has avoided answering his phone calls and has changed his mobile phone number.

He believes the owner of Amyvatu Alain Talafili has gone back to New Caledonia with the loan money.
