An estimated 2,000 people have joined a march to the French Polynesian assembly in a rally against the latest fuel price hike.
The protest was called by the group, Te Tau no te Hono, which has been campaigning for lower prices for weeks.
The rally is the second in six days and comes after the government's repeated refusal to accede to the demands.
At the beginning of the week, the group cut some thoroughfares for three days and caused massive disruptions, but after announcing more blockades, the group lifted all the traffic restrictions.
The group has also written to the French overseas territories minister, saying successive local governments have created agencies to please their supporters.
It says this has depleted the budget and deprived the private sector which has led to the current debacle.
