The Saipan Southern High School Manta Ray Band won a silver award in the London Celebration Music Festival last Friday.
The band's musical director and conductor Will DeWitt said the London Celebration Music Festival is part of the Olympics.
A total of five musical groups competed in the music festival where the 47-member Manta Ray Band emerged as runners-up to a group of Chinese traditional musicians that included professional instrumentalists, dancers, and music educators.
The Manta Ray Band had previously performed at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and at New York's Carnegie Hall.
