Cook Islands tourism official reportedly dumped after clash with board

Carmel Beattie has reportedly been sacked from her position as chief executive of the Cook Islands Tourism Corporation.

Tourism Board chairman Ewan Smith has issued a press release advising Ms Beattie resigned as chief executive after a two and a half year stint at the corporation's helm.

No reason for the sudden resignation was given in the release, apart from 're-structuring'.

But the Cook Islands News reports it has been told Ms Beattie was fired last Friday.

The paper says it is understood the board chose to terminate her contract in response to a letter of complaint she sent to the chair outlining her concerns at the way the board was conducting its business.
