Fijian weightlifter Maria Liku has achieved her aim of a top eight finish at the London Olympics.

The 22 year old was eighth in the women's 63kg class, snatching 82kg and clean and jerking 100 for a total of 182kg.

Cook Islands sailor Helema Williams improved narrowly in her latest two laser radial races.

She finished 39th and 40th in a field of 41, which sees her move up to 40th overall.

Fijian judoka Josateki Naulu has been beaten in his first match against Montenegro's Srdjan Mrvaljevic.

Palau's Jennifer Anson didn't fare any better in the under 63kg class, failing to register a point against Mongolia's Munkhzaya Tsedevsuren.

Fijian archer Robert Elder has been eliminated in the round of 32 by South Korea's Kim Bubmin.

Samoa's Maureen Epati-Tuimalealifano was knocked out at the same stage by Lee Sung Jin.

Meanwhile in the pool Guam's Chris Duenas and Fiji's Paul Elaisa have missed out on the semi finals of the men's 100m freestyle.

Duenas was 7th in his heat in a time of 53.37 seconds, while Elaisa finished 3rd in 54.87.

So China still heads the medal tally with 19 overall, including 10 gold.

The US have 18 in all, with six gold.
