PNG's Namah apologises for storming into court

1:58 pm on 7 August 2012

The leader of the PNG Party, Belden Namah, has apologised to Papua New Guinea's Chief Justice for storming into court last May.

Mr Namah had marched into the court room while the Supreme Court was in session and demanded the arrest of Sir Salamo Injia.

The action was taken as the previous government fought for legitimacy after the Supreme Court had re-instated the Somare-led administration.

Mr Namah says he wants to say sorry for anything that he had done as the deputy prime minister in the then government.

He says it is very difficult for someone to apologise but as a leader of PNG he stands tall with the principles that he believes in.

The PNG Party Leader is to lead a 17-member opposition.
