Air Tahiti Nui to provide special flights to stranded passengers

4:34 pm on 10 August 2012

Air Tahiti Nui is providing special chartered flights to clear a backlog of customers stranded in French Polynesia because of a cabin crew strike.

Strike action began at midnight on Tuesday with flights from Tahiti to Los Angeles cancelled two days in a row.

However, Air Tahiti Nui has organised a special flight to Los Angeles for passengers stranded in hotels since Tuesday.

The flight departs Tahiti tonight.

The airline says priority is given to those passengers stuck in hotels.

Another two flights will leave for Los Angeles early tomorrow morning via Auckland and Sydney.

Air France is also providing a Los Angeles flight tomorrow.

Air Tahiti Nui is advising passengers to check its website for updates.
