In the latest twist surrounding the arrival of a luxury yacht in Vanuatu a masked gunman allegedly linked to the vessel has terrorised residents at Etas on Efate.

When the yacht arrived in Port Vila more than two weeks ago, it was searched by police for suspected weapons and fake Vanuatu passports.

Two cabinet ministers and another MP allegedly also boarded the vessel before it had been cleared by Customs.

In the latest development, there are reports that an armed and masked intruder threatened to kill a senior public servant at his Etas home this week.

The intruder, who did not find the public servant, was said to be linked to one of the MPs who had been on the yacht and had allegedly been receiving instructions from him.
