French Polynesia airport strike notice withdrawn

10:20 am on 16 August 2012

Firefighters at French Polynesia's international airport have lifted their strike notice without winning any concessions.

This was announced shortly after Air France changed its flight schedule in and out of Tahiti.

The latest came only days after a cabin crew strike at Air Tahiti Nui prompted flight cancellations.

The flight-related problems have caused concern in the tourism sector which is struggling to recover from years of decline.

The recent industrial action prompted an unprecedented brief protest by tourism industry employees in Papeete.
