Tonga PSC explains sacking of secretary to cabinet

2:18 pm on 17 August 2012

Tonga's Public Service Commission has issued a statement saying what it calls managerial non-compliance - not fraud - is the reason the Chief Secretary and Secretary to Cabinet, Busby Kautoke, was removed from his posts.

The PSC terminated Mr Kautoke's contract last week after he was suspended in April.

Mr Kautoke says the process which the PSC used to remove him is flawed and unlawful and he will take the matter to court.

Radio Tonga reports the PSC as saying its decision is a result of a comprehensive and objective investigation.
