The Tautua Samoa opposition party wants the parliamentary speaker to play his role under the standing orders and refer one its MPs to the parliamentary privileges committee.
The prime minister, Tuila'epa Sa'ilele Malielegaoi, told parliament yesterday Toesulusulu Cedric Schuster will be referred to the attorney general over his conduct in the Satapuala road block.
But the opposition leader, Palusalue Faapo II, says the allegations against Toesulusulu are baseless.
He is urging the speaker to refer the investigation into the parliament's powers and privileges committee and not the Attorney General for criminal charges.
Palusalue says the powers and privileges committee is the only appropriate parliament procedure to deal with the matter.
