Samoa's former Agriculture Minister, Taua Seuala Kitiona Tavaga, who had pleaded guilty to two charges of bribery and one of treating during last year election campaign has been fined.
He has been ordered by the court to pay a 1000 US dollar fine or face five months in jail.
The former ruling HRPP party MP has told reporters he is relieved the case has finally concluded.
The defendant was re-elected for the Aleipatae Itupa i Luga parliamentary seat he had held for the two previous five year terms but this was declared void by the Electoral Court after allegations of bribery and treating were proven.
The allegations were then referred to the police for a criminal investigation.
