A senior and prominent medical practitioner in Samoa Le Mamea Dr Emosi Puni has been found him guilty of one count of indecently assaulting a female patient.

The patient had filed a complaint to police after being examined by Puni in 2005.

The Supreme Court after a trial in 2006 had dismissed the case because of a lack of police evidence.

However the court of appeal in 2007 had ruled for the case to be heard by another judge for a retrial.

Le Mamea Dr Emosi Puni, has been released on bail to await sentencing on the 2nd of November.

Puni lawyers' say they will appeal against the guilty verdict.
